The Value of Programmed Intermittent Epidural Bolus in Labor Analgesia

چکیده
Methods: Sixty healthy ASA class I or II, term (≥37weeks’ gestation), nulliparous women were recruited in our study. Epidural analgesia was initiated with a solution of 0.15% ropivacaine 10 mL and maintained with 0.12% ropivacaine combined with fentanyl 2ug/mL by continuous epidural infusion at a rate of 5mL/h and combined with a patient-controlled epidural analgesia bolus of 5 mL and intermittent bolus of 5mL and combined with a patient-controlled epidural analgesia bolus of 5 mL, lockout interval was 20 minutes. After 20 minutes of the first dosage the VAS score was obtained in every 60 minutes. The maternal and fetal outcome, total consumption of analgesic solution and were oxytocin compared among the groups.

Comparison of continuous epidural infusion and programmed intermittent epidural bolus in labor analgesia
BACKGROUND This study aims to investigate differences between continuous epidural infusion (CEI) and programmed intermittent epidural bolus (IEB) analgesia for the Chinese parturients undergoing spontaneous delivery and to approach their safety to parturients and neonates. METHODS Two hundred healthy American Society of Anesthesiologists class I or II, term (≥37 weeks' gestation), nulliparous...
متن کاملComparison between Continuous Epidural Infusion and Intermittent Epidural Bolus of Bupivacaine Fentanyl Combination for Labour Analgesia
Labour analgesia has become almost synonymous with central neuraxial analgesia. Various techniques are in use from single epidural injection, continuous epidural infusion, combined spinal epidural, patient controlled epidural analgesia to programmed intermittent epidural bolus. Each method has its own advantages and disadvantages though the purpose remains the same:a painless labour and a healt...
متن کاملIntermittent epidural TOP-UPS vs. patient control epidural analgesia during labor.
Pain during labor and delivery is often very unpleasant and stressful for the parturients. Patient controlled epidural analgesia (PCEA) has been found to be both safe and effective, providing optimal pain relief and allowing women to participate in their own analgesia). Compared to other epidural techniques, intermittent epidural top-ups and continuous epidural analgesia (CEA), PCEA uses dilute...
متن کاملPatient-controlled epidural analgesia for labor.
Patient-controlled epidural analgesia (PCEA) for labor was introduced into clinical practice 20 yr ago. The PCEA technique has been shown to have significant benefits when compared with continuous epidural infusion. We conducted a systematic review using MEDLINE and EMBASE (1988-April 1, 2008) of all randomized, controlled trials in parturients who received PCEA in labor in which one of the fol...
متن کاملRegular intermittent bolus provides similar incidence of maternal fever compared with continuous infusion during epidural labor analgesia
OBJECTIVES To compare the effects of regular intermittent bolus versus continuous infusion for epidural labor analgesia on maternal temperature and serum interleukin-6 (IL-6) level. METHODS This randomized trial was performed in Nanjing Maternity and Child Health Care Hospital, Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, China between October 2012 and February 2014. Either regular intermittent bolus (RIB, n=6...
